Do you believe in Ghost Month, that it’s malas to start something new in August? Many people do. But for breastfeeding moms like us, August is far from unlucky. In fact, it’s our month.
Why? Because every August, we celebrate Breastfeeding Month. This tradition began with the Innocenti Declaration in August 1990, when world leaders came together to sign a global pledge to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding. Since then, August has been a worldwide reminder of the importance of nurturing our babies with love and nourishment.
For us at Mother Nurture, August is always one of our busiest and most fulfilling months. This year, we supported more than 30 community breastfeeding events, gave talks, and had interviews, all dedicated to uplifting moms in their journeys. And since August is also our anniversary month, we marked our 11th year with a special mini giveaway to thank our mama friends for being with us all these years. 💚
But beyond events and milestones, August is really about YOU, Mommy.
So let me ask: How do you celebrate your breastfeeding journey?
Here are some meaningful ways you can honor it, not just in August, but every day:
💚 1. Capture Your Journey.
Take a photo or short video while breastfeeding your little one. It’s more than just a memory, it’s a milestone of love and sacrifice you’ll treasure forever.
💚 2. Join a Support Group.
Community matters. Surround yourself with moms who understand, who can encourage you,and remind you that you’re never alone in this journey. Here are some helpful mommy groups you can check out: Breastfeeding Pinays, Pumping Inays, VT Momma Club, Milkmates
